I worry for my low progress Mathematics learners. Some have weaker foundation in Maths while others can get the concept but struggle to understand and answer the Mathamtical Word Problems especially when there are lots of words and asked in the context of a real world problem. These students would try their very best, to follow my lessons, listen but they often get demoralised when they get stuck and they eventually develop a hatred for the subject. I think this is an important problem which needs to be addressed as Mathematics teaches and builds life skill. I want all students to love the subject even if they do not necessarily do very well in it. Also, Mathematics is a core subject just like English (which I also teach) and it helps to build connections and multidisciplinary thinking and literacy which I feel is critical for us all.
