Challenge
I think one of the biggest challenges educators face is how to find professional development activities that they know will be highly effective and worth the precious time away from their students. It would be fantastic if every professional development opportunity was rewarding and immediately useful, but thats not always the case. Often, professional development is a shot in the dark, hoping that the description and curated reviews are accurate, but too often they are not. We have easy access to information to be able to find high quality television sets and lawn services, but nothing to help teachers make informed decisions about the conferences, workshops, or presenters they see. If teachers are truly expected to develop themselves professionally, then they need to be able to readily find meaningful opportunities to do so.
