Challenge

We live in a world of rapidly advancing technology, and none faster than Artificial Intelligence (AI). Our students interact with such technology constantly, so much that it has become part of their daily lives. While technology’s ubiquity brings certain risks, the lag in educational systems adapting to these advancements often results in students forming poor technological habits before effective educational frameworks are in place. AI should be integrated into our school curriculums, not just for ethical consumption, but for understanding and innovation. Students should be equipped to use AI, understand its mechanisms, and contribute to its evolution, preparing them for future technological shifts. It is not enough for students to be consumers of technology, as they will be the ones contributing to the development of a new generation of technology and its legal regulation. The earlier we are able to start them on this journey of learning to innovate and create with emerging technology, the more comfortable they will be to navigate this world they are growing up in, equipping them with adaptiveness and a habit of lifelong learning that will help them thrive in adulthood. While many teachers share in this vision, many of them do not have the technological knowledge to guide their students in learning and innovating with this new technology. Teachers do not always have the ability to take 6 months of their work to take a course to learn these skills, so it falls to the fraternity to support each other and sharing our knowledge where we can. However, this is not enough against the rapid pace of technological advancement. We need a more regular platform for this sharing and support to take place.
