Challenge
Our students learn differently and thus there is no single most effective strategy in teaching. For a very demanding subject such as Chemistry which is already prejudged to be off-scale in the difficulty meter by most students, it is just fitting for chemistry teachers to have varied strategies. Is it possible to have individualized instruction? A customized instruction suited to the learning style of each student, and to his/her preferences and interests. Is it possible to closely monitor the progress of each student and be able to give immediate feedback and intervention at the perfect time that they need it? These are some of the questions I have in my mind and also my greatest challenge that Im currently experiencing in the classroom. This matters to me because if we solved these problems, only then we can confidently say that our student-centered instruction is TRULY student-centered.
