Challenge

As educators, there are many ways to assess student learning and track it over time. Students are also able to self or peer assess against criteria in many areas to set goals and reflect on their strengths. Many subjects such as like Language and Mathematics have concrete ways to do this. Currently, there isn’t an effective way to do this for many approaches to learning. For example, how does a student measure their success and goal set related to their own metacognition, creative or critical thinking? How can they track their growth over time? Where can students find exemplars that show them how to use these skills effectively? Learning is about developing lifelong skills and understandings that can be applied to multiple situations. Supporting students to have a growth mindset and the tools to develop skills and understanding in ALL areas is vital. We need to fill this void.
