Challenge
Under Covid, teachers were faced with a huge workload. When teachers returned to work after Covid, there were clear indications that they were extremely exhausted. Reforms in the school world, increased anxiety among pupils, increased workloads and, surprisingly in many cases, the rise of digitalisation have caused many teachers in Finland to become tired and consider a career change. Many of my teaching colleagues have already looked for another career or taken a sabbatical or similar leave to get some respite from the rigours of school life. As I've followed education news around the world, I've noticed that even globally, teachers have experienced feelings of burnout. This is very worrying.
