Challenge
As technology continues to evolve at such a rapid pace, it is increasingly challenging for education stakeholders to keep up with the EdTech changes that impact them. Not only is the technology ever-changing, but schools continue to experience more and more budget cuts, and less time to make technology compliance and professional development a priority. Teachers, leaders, and parents are overworked, exhausted, and demotivated from taking on anything new. But without the technological understanding of the tools and resources available to stakeholders, how can they benefit from pedagogical ROI? This is very important to me because Ive seen limited progression with this problem in the last 5 years. Schools continue to work with what they have, which leads to no consistency or motivation, often being unaware of what is available. Staff have no time to experiment with the applications that exist with excellent features, to enhance learning, which are often too expensive to onboard anyway. This leads to no change. Some schools still use obsolete interactive boards and projectors, have digital cameras which are outdated with no batteries, and still revert to using spreadsheets as a manual process, even though they may have access to more efficient tools. This is extremely time consuming and leads to frustration. Sometimes they even choose not to use a given resource, as a result of a lack of confidence, but equally without replacement budgets for outdated resources. I want to find ways to simplify these pain points for them, and maximize the use of either what they already have or find ways to support them in transforming strategically with devices, training, and culture. I am determined to help them transform the way in which they teach in this digital world, to feel proud and empowered with what they can achieve with it.
