I work in an inner city, one stream school. The students have little to no connections with wider community and lack any global connections. There is huge potential to transform lessons to include perspectives from beyond the written word in their books and on their screens. There is a need to broaden their experiences and bring their eductaion to life with authentic connections. There is a need for the students to have a voice beyond the walls of their small school. They are a eclectic and creative bunch of individuals and they deserve a stage. They deserve to learn from the best of the best but don't always have this opportunity given the small pool of teachers they have in their time at Primary school.
