Challenge

The biggest struggle my students face is the lack of access to technology and the Internet at home. At school, they have access to a wealth of devices and online learning materials, but that ends when they go home. As a Title I school with 87% of families living at or below the poverty limit, parents struggle just to put food on the table, luxuries like a computer are usually out of reach. Without more equitable access, students are falling significantly behind their more affluent peers. With access at home, students can participate in blended or flipped learning. They can research from anywhere, they can communicate and collaborate on projects and then share them with the world! Finding a way for students to have equitable access to technology as well as structures to manage it and that keep kids safe, would make a big difference for my students!
