Challenge

An important writer wrote that "libraries are about freedom. Freedom to read, freedom of ideas, freedom of communication. They are about education (which is not a process that finishes the day we leave school or university)". As far as I could see and live in my school district, school libraries today are simply a place where books are collected. A sort of shrine of knowledge, and tradition. And, more important, as a matter of fact they may be used simply by the school's students. I think that we are living in a more and more interwoven reality, where every place must be fully accessible and enjoyable. The challenge is to make teachers and students protagonists of accessibility to knowledge through the Google Workspace tools, of redesigning the idea of library (as any place where knowledge and tradition are kept), making these places open to local communities, living, in a network with other realities. There are open spaces for creativity and vision, and I hope that through a debate with other teachers and specialists I could contribute to innovation in that domain, to make teachers and students central, with new languages and tools, in the process of sharing knowledge, heritage and tradition.
