I find the disparity in access to industries, mentors, resources, and information frustrating. I don't feel we are harnessing the collective power of people and the internet to meet the needs of students in remote or disadvantaged locations. I have worked in a region where the mentality was 'they're in your classroom but they want to be out there (in the ocean: surfing)'. Changing a community culture is near-impossible, yet providing access to new ideas, industries, resources, and information can have a dramatic and life-changing impact on a young person.
