The problem that I am currently experiencing is the lack of exposure to student's creativity. Many educators share that students are not putting enough effort into their creations even when given the agency and flexibility over the way they express their understanding and ideas. Much of student creation gets put into online spaces like Google Classroom and is only seen or heard by the teachers and classmates who occupy that online space. Students or teachers have to make an effort to share these positive examples to a larger community. As students get older their motivation to put forth their best effort decreases. Perhaps it may be a case where they dont think their creative endeavors have a serious impact on the world. What if there was a way to have students creativity on display, which could benefit our communities, companies and governments. Would having these genuine audiences increase student motivation and effort? I made a connection to this problem when the COVID-19 pandemic broke. The world is going through difficult times. I wondered what was common amongst students from all socioeconomic backgrounds. This made me think of examples of student creativity. No matter what part of the world you are in, students are showcasing their creativity in many different ways. I thought about what can be done to empower students to try their best in their creative pursuits, which showcases their talents and brings in financial support for themselves and their families. Students are often the most divergent thinkers and their creativity must be celebrated for helping our world become a more harmonious place.
